A dental implant is a small "anchor" made of titanium. It is inserted into the jawbone to take the place of your missing tooth root. After the surrounding bone has attached to the implant, called Osseointegration, a replacement tooth is secured to the top of the implant. The new tooth looks, feels, and performs just like your natural teeth.
A recent innovation allows us to manufacture your crown restoration through CAD/CAM technology right in our office while you wait, thus eliminating the second crown seat appointment, and the need for a temporary crown, not to mention those gooey impressions. The crown is milled by a computer to fit your tooth precisely from a scan of your tooth, without having to send it off to the dental laboratory. CAD/CAM crowns are pure ceramic which enhances their esthetics.
A root canal is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth. The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and sealing it. The common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma. The term "root canal" comes from cleaning of the canals inside the tooth's root.
Invisalign utilizes a series of clear aligners that are custom-molded to fit you. These virtually invisable aligners gradually reposition your teeth into the smile you desire. This means that there are no metal wires or bands to irritate your mouth. Best of all, most people won't even notice your wearing anything.
A composite " white" filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
When routine dental cleanings are not enough, a nonsurgical step called “scaling and root planing,” is performed. It involves a special cleaning to remove plaque and tartar deposits on the tooth and root surfaces. This procedure helps gum tissue to heal and periodontal pockets to shrink. This is sometimes referred to as “periodontal cleaning” or “deep cleaning.”
